Robert W. Blanc Age 73, of Minerva, died Wed. July 17, 2013 in the Alliance Community Care Center. He was born Oct. 11, 1939 in Canton to Bob and Kate (Work) Blanc. He retired from Blackhawk Industries where he was a supervisor. He graduated from Minerva High School and was a US Marine during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He is a member of the Minerva VFW Post #4120 where he was a member of the championship drill team. He is also a member of the Minerva Eagles Aerie #2199 and the Malvern American Legion Post #375. He was an avid golfer and bowler and loved his Buckeyes and Browns. He is survived by a daughter, Christine McClain of Minerva, 2 sons, Robert D. (Connie) Blanc of Canton and Chuck (Bev) Shandor of Atwood, sister, Mary Jane (Bob) Collins of Malvern and a brother, Dave Blanc of Fairfield, Montana, his favorite sister-in-law always, Lynne Krusi of Power, Montana, and lifelong best friend, John Alexander, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 nieces and a nephew. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Mr. Dale Roberts officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 12 noon to 2 pm at the funeral home. Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at gotschallfuneralhome.
