Roberta Bassett Burford, 84, the widow of Jack Burford, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at her home. She was born January 26, 1929, in Owen County, Kentucky, to the late William Benjamin and Dess Perkins Bassett. Roberta was a member of the First Baptist Church of Richmond. She loved to cook and to travel, and she was a homemaker who loved her home. Above all, she loved her family. She is survived by her son, John (Samantha) Burford, one daughter, Cathy (Raymond) Cornelison, both of Richmond, and one sister, Doris Rose. She is also survived by four special grandchildren John Cornelison, Makenzie Burford, Mallory Burford and Marley Burford. Funeral services for Roberta will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday June 7, 2013 at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Fort officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Benjy Kinman, Barney Kinman, Lloyd Vannarsdall, John Hamilton, Joe Kidwell and Chris Hornsby. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. The family would like to offer a special "thank you" to all the members of Hospice Care Plus, to the Madison County EMS staff for all of their wonderful care, and to her wonderful caregivers, Barbara Anderson, Flora Day, Diana Walton, Amanda Rhodus, Naomi Prather, Pam Baker, Sonja Arnold, Debbie Henson and Kim Rice.
