Robin Williams is my favorite comedian and I am heartbroken at the news of his passing. Ive been avoiding this not only because it troubles me so, but I received the news on my 12th wedding anniversary while I was enjoying vacation with my family. I pushed away thoughts of the tragedy, refusing to let it dampen my day. This on the heels of news of an incident involving another of my favorite celebrities, and the deaths of three local teens. Ive been enjoying Robins movies since I was a child (I believe Popeye was the first.) As an entertainer his stand-up was where he shined brightest; seamlessly shifting between styles and with perfect timing. He was all over the place, but I cannot remember laughing harder than watching his 2003 performance Live Broadway [on video]. There are many stories from the recent outpouring of grief stricken fans and friends and the recurring theme I hear is what a warm, kind, generous soul he was. Anyones opinion on suicide aside, this is a terrible loss that I too feel profoundly. Of the tributes Ive seen, this one is my favorite. Thank you to HDD for sharing.
