Robin Williams stand up comedy was a phenomenon. His tv show - TopicsExpress

Robin Williams stand up comedy was a phenomenon. His tv show Mork & Mindy was a phenomenon. His movies (Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Mrs. Doubtfire) were a phenomenon. His voice over work in Aladdin was a phenomenon. His work on Comic Relief, was a phenomenon. This was a human being, a spirit, an artist with the rarest of gifts. He had all the colors at his disposal and used them to dazzling effect. Yes, he also occasionally did other peoples jokes (whether intentionally or accidentally) but thats a small footnote now. The depths of his heart, his love, his humanity were on full display for decades in a body of work that ranged from orgasmically comedic to heartbreakingly vulnerable and sweet. His was a rare mind- lightning quick- touched by genius yet by disease and demons, as well. A stark reminder of the attention, care and vigilance required to treat myriad mental illnesses that affect so many of us and those we love. As his performances so often did, his death leaves us astonished, shaken and asking lifes big questions. We look to the heavens and we say Thank you, Robin. Thank you for channeling a piece of the divine for all of us to witness. Be at peace, friend. You ran the race exceedingly well. Godspeed.
