Robotics is a branch of Artificial Intelligence that deals with the design, construction, and operation of robots and is also used to control, and perform sensory feedback with information processing with the help of computer systems. It involves the study of various disciplines such as Nanotechnology, Mechatronics, Bioengineering, Electronics and Computer science. History of robotics can be traced back from early ages as early as BC. The timeline of robotics development will give excellent touch about the history: 1. 320 BC: Greek Philosopher Aristotle gave the hint that automated machine can come into existence. 2. 1491: Leonardo Vinci sketched the first humanoid robot. 3. 1913: The credit goes to Henry Ford for creating first conveyor belt assembly line in his company. 4. 1932: Japan produced the first robot toy named as Lilliput, which could walk. 5. 1941: legendary writer Issac Asimov mentions about the 3 laws of robotics in his writing called “Liar”. 6. 1954: The first programmable robot arm was designed by George Devol and Joe Engleberger. 7. 1986: Honda takes the project of building the first walking robot, and the first LEGO based educational product was put to market. 8. 1998: First Robotics invention System was introduced by LEGO. 9. 1999: The first version of AIBO was released by Sony. The Robotic dog had the features of entertaining its owner. 10. 2004: Epsom releases the first flying smallest robot which was to be used for natural disasters. The developments are on the rise as newer technology inventions and latest innovation tools marks its importance. Going by the statistics, the Industry demands in the field of robotics and robotic products are immense. The market for robot related products and robotics was around $21 billion in 2010-11. The calculated Compound Annual growth Rate (CAGR) was around 7.2% and is bound to increase globally. The growth is stupendous in Asian market as well reaching the market of around $7 billion in 2011. Research Organizations like NASA employ the use of robotics on a large scale in fields like Used for space research. It uses the concepts of Robotic arm to move large objects in space. So there is a huge demand for professionals skilled in robotics. The students who are skilled in robotics can think of a brighter career in future. CETPA is an ISO 9001:2008 certified company, and is the market leader in “high end technology” training. It has the experience of helping students to reach NASA. The trainers of CETPA helped the students in developing a project called as “Unmanned Vehicle for Moon”. Hence it becomes a great opportunity for students to join the training programs for 4/6 weeks in Robotics.
