Robs’ first love and passion had always been for his wife Sharlene and their two young boys. Robs’ commitment and dedication to his family was without a doubt one of the driving forces in his life. Robs’ second passion was for the Rottweiler. His love of the breed can be described as boundless, intense and passionate. He was only in the breed for a short time, but his energy and drive to bring European bloodlines into New Zealand to improve this majestic and noble breed could not be slowed down. His love and insight for the breed will leave a mark within the Rottweiler community throughout the world for many years to come. His return to Europe had been a well planned trip with his friend and mentor Bill Patterson to meet new friends, and to renew old friendships, in particular Rob was most looking forward to renewing his deep friendship with the Popovic family in Serbia. They too, like us are struggling to come to terms with the deep sense of loss and sadness of one taken so young. Robs’ drive and passion will be sorely missed, but as we spend time with our beloved breed our thoughts will return to Rob and his family. We cannot fathom what his young and extended family are going through at this time, but the outpour of love and sorrow from across the world from friends, family and total strangers will comfort those close to him. We miss their smile, their warmth, their love and sink deeper into our grief, Were told that time will heal the pain, but still there is no relief. At quiet times we may feel their presence but pass it off with a rebuff. We think that our minds are playing tricks as if were not suffering enough. The key to it all is an open mind with this youll know the way. If your mind is open youre willing to be ready to accept miracles each day. Our loved ones are not that far away although it can be hard to believe. Just reach out with your thoughts and love and be open for the gifts youll receive. Love is eternal it never dies When we pass, its all that we can take The love we share is never lost The bond will never break.
