Rock On!! is the soundtrack to the 2008 Hindi film Rock On!! directed by Abhishek Kapoor, starring Arjun Rampal, Farhan Akhtar, Purab Kohli and Luke Kenny. The original score and songs were composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The songs lyrics were written by Javed Akhtar. The story set in the seventies is about a Rock Band that disbands due to one of the members alleging that he was not given his due. The members go their separate ways and then reunite for a concert. Reminds you of the beatles? The movies songs were composed in five days. Since the movie is about a rock band, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy composed the music in a similar fashion, with the drums and bass set-up and played live to the recorder without any programming. Shankar-Ehsan-Loy won the Filmfare award for best music director for their rocking music in addition to 10th International Indian Film Academy award and 4th Apsara Award for their music in the movie. Incidentally this was Farhan Akhtars debut movie and he won the Filmfare best male debut award, Star Screen most promising male newcomer award,International Indian Film Academy award for Most promising male newcomer award, e also won the Filmfare best male playback singer award for this song. And the movie won the Filmfare best film award.
