Rocking the Boat... Have you ever noticed that the ones who contribute the least, complain the most? Whether at home, at work, or in the Church, it seems that those who sit around and bemoan every little thing seem to be the lazy, the gossips and the least successful in life. They are the ones who volunteer the least, work with less conviction, and have the least commitment to the common goal...but they squeak the loudest and seem to get the most attention, and often bully others into submission...why do we let this happen? In the Church, it should always be the faithful that get the attention, the supplies, the resources and the audience of leadership, because they are the ones doing the heavy lifting. These are the ones who do the physical, getting dirty kind of contributions- like feeding the hungry, reaching the lost, going on missions, cleaning up the church, helping with V.B.S. and other Church events, leading Bible Studies, etc., you know, the living faith proud and out loud crowd. Those who complain, gossip and threaten in order to get their way and/or impede progress should know that their methods will not only go unheeded, but that they are unwelcome and will not be tolerated, after-all, soil that is free of thorns and weeds is the best soil for future generations to grow in. If you are focused on rowing the boat, you have little time to rock it. Note: Love them still, for there is likely a thorn in their flesh that is making them roar and fuss, you may just be the mouse to help remove that thorn and return them to joy...but that will never happen if we flee in fear, or bend in submission...there is no true remedy in that approach. _____ To maintain pure truth in the church, we should be ready to make any sacrifice, to hazard peace, to risk dissention and run the chance of division. ---J.C. Ryle Only a love for the truth and a willingness to do what the Word of God says will preserve us from the apostasy that Scripture tells us will overtake the world. ---T.A. McMahon No one sets out to become an apostate - its never the result of one abrupt, drastic turn away from the Lord. Instead, apostasy is most often the product of a pattern of sinful compromises that harden and gradually steer a professing believer away from the truth. ---John MacArthur _____ Romans 16:17 ESV, I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. Philippians 4:8 ESV, Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV, There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
