Rode the motorbike to Gadhawa this am and stopped at the office.. Walked across the street to get some water and a snack and I see Jayapal... :) He grabbed my hand and gestured for me to come.. So cool! He took me back to his aunties house to see Unako... !For the next 45min I was entertained to songs and dance by a about 15 kids.. It was great.. Spent some time chatting in very broken English and napalese as I was alone on this trip in... No interpreter... :) I managed to pull the auntie aside and with the help of the best English speaking lady in the crowd was able to feel comfortable giving her some money for food for the kids from time to time. No drinking for dad, just food for the kids.. Im 100% confident my wish will be kept. Jayapal is such as cool little guy, very polite and very happy to see me. Offering me a chair... Always a great smile. This whole experience of meeting these kids has been so inspiring, so thought provoking.. After reading the book little princes its understandable why operating a orphanage in Nepal is something not that far out of my brain... The need is so huge, this is only one piece of the planet but this one has touched me like never before. The children have amazing resilience and the best smiles but live in utter poverty. Jayapal and his sisters Unako and Susma are the tip of the iceberg in this little town but Im glad Ive met them. Go figure I would get some more news this am when the father showed up for a brief talk and a gracious bow. (Didnt appear to be drinking roxy yet) he told me that he has another daughter in a boarding school in Kathmandu.. He then gestured wait, wait.. 10 min later he reappeared with a photo of him, his missing wife and Unakos oldest sister Susmita, when she was a baby. he then handed me a piece of paper with a phone number for her boarding school in Kathmandu. :) Now there were 4... All without a mother and a father that cannot provide. This trip was made worthwhile for several reasons but this one made it really worth it for me. I said my goodbyes with a hug as tomorrow I return to Kathmandu. I will see them again one day soon :)
