Rolex Watch Owners!!!.... I am not sure how many people I know that own a Rolex. I use to buy a watch every 6 months or so $200 to $300 at a time. ... On one of my trips to the Far East... Hong Kong... I decided to buy a Rolex Datejust 18K/SS actually this was my 2nd Rolex... The 1st one was way too ostentatious for me... That is another story... also interesting.... This watch I really liked... We Bonded... :-) This was over 30 years ago... and I never bought another watch... This watch is my everyday watch... I wear it swimming, running. sleeping all the time... and it still looks as it did when I bought it... I have had the watched serviced over the years... expensive... but far cheaper that what I use to spend every 6 months for my watches... Well, over the years the Band (Bracelet) had stretched and needed to be replaced... Cost? anywhere from $600 for a pre-owned, perhaps having the same stretch as mine... $1,000 for an after Market non-Rolex Band to $3,500 for a Rolex New Replacement... After many years of research... and putting off replacing this band... The after market bands were high quality... but.... not original... Here is a photo of my band.... I found someone in Hong Kong.... That offered to do a Restoration On my Band... for $250 plus shipping to and from Hong Kong. I chose to insure the shipments both ways for an addition 2% shipping was $40 each way... Micheal... Michael (CK) Young said that he is a small business and it would take around 8 to 10 weeks to complete the Band Restoration.. I needed to have my watch serviced and a crown replaced... so... I sent my watch band of to Michael 7/22/2014... and but my watch in for service on 7/20/2014.... I then bought my second watch in 30 years a Seiko Chronograph... normally $300 but it was discounted a bit.. it was about the same weight on my wrist... So... I thought I had my old friend on my wrist... until I looked down to see the time... :-). I could not be without a watch for 8 to 10 weeks Yesterday 8/14/2014 I received my Rolex Band Back from Michael... See the After restoration photos... This Band is Brand NEW... Michael, under promised and over delivered... I had no less than 8 email communications with Michael during this process... To complete this restoration the band is disassembled, reshaped and re-pinned... I searched here in the U.S. to have this done... could not be found.... that in itself is sad.... we have NO CRAFTSMEN... any longer... O.K. now for the real point of this posting... It is REALLY about... SERVICE.... the service I received ABROAD.... and the service I am receiving here... in the USA.... Remember, I said, I sent my Rolex in for a crown replacement and a Service? Well, I have a friend of mine here locally that has a jewelry shop that had a Rolex repair person... I had always been happy with his work... Unfortunately that repair person retired... My friend hired someone from across the country to do the in house Rolex service... I sent it in once, and was not pleased with the turn around time... 8 weeks... His repair person went to another Larger, and purportedly well recognized Rolex Repair Service... I asked that I receive an estimate... and I told my Jewelry Shop Owner to not follow-up with this person, just to see how long it takes to get an estimate... So far as of today I have not heard word one... Yet.... Michael Young in Hong Kong... has returned part of my Friend Back to me.... This my friends is the PROBLEM with our economy... NOT the government.... We have LOST what it MEANS... to give service....
