Rom. 8:4 That the righteous requirement of the law might be - TopicsExpress

Rom. 8:4 That the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. (God is in the business of making us righteous so we can stand before Him blameless of the guilt of sin. He does this through the perfect righteousness of His son being given to us as a covering to be counted as right with Him through our faith and trust in Jesus for salvation. He does this because we could not earn righteousness and eventually heaven by our unrighteousness. So He gives us His son’s righteousness "imputed" or transferred to us as a covering. In accepting this righteous requirement of the law (the ability to stand before as perfect) is fulfilled because Jesus kept the law totally and died us as a perfect sacrifice in our place. God then begins His work in us to make us like Jesus. We walk after the Spirit’s leadership in our life and He begins to be manifested or seen in us as Christ in us is perfected in us bringing us to the goal of being completely like Him in every aspect. This transaction not only fulfills the law’s requirement of being perfect to go to heaven through Jesus righteousness. It also gives us the capability to be like our founder because He is now alive in our lives bringing us into His likeness through trusting in Christ as Saviour. We get two for the price of sin: A covering for our sin and a power to overcome it and be like Jesus.)
