Romans 2:1. Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who - TopicsExpress

Romans 2:1. Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself, for you who judge practice the same things. What this means is that we who see one who is immoral, or practicing sin, and we cast judgment upon that person, that proves that you know the law of God more than the immoral man or woman, and in knowing more, you are therefore held to greater accountability for your deeds. In the verse we see that in judging another we condemn our self because if the knowledge is there for us to know. Or for you to know what that person is doing is wrong, you then condemn yourself because sufficient knowledge is there for you to correctly evaluate your own condition. Which is a sinful man or woman. Romans 2:2,3. And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things, (outlined in Romans 1:18-32), But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God? What we see here is Paul ask a question to those of us that think that we are above others. That because we know, and go to church, that we have the right to condemn others for their actions. When all we do, in the eyes of God, is condemn ourselves, because in our own self-righteousness, we prove that we have enough knowledge to rightly view our own sinfulness, but we dont. So Paul asked the question. Do you honestly think that you will escape the judgment of God? Because what we read later in Romans is that all have sinned. All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23) That though one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, so then death passed to ALL MEN, for ALL have sinned (Romans 5:12). Yes, that means YOU, that means ME. We all have sinned. And for those of you that still believe that everyone except you. There is none righteous, not even one. There is no one that understands. There is none who seeks for God. All have turned aside, together they have become useless. There is none who does good, there is not even one. There throat is an open grave. With their tongues they keep deceiving. The poison of asps is under their lips. Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their paths. And the path of peace they have not known. There is no Fear of God before their eyes. (Romans 3:10-18). You see, its not that you dont have anything against God, its that God is at war against you, the mere fact that God would crucify His own Son to provide forgiveness for you says it all as to the kind of God He is. Loving yes, forgiving yes, but you reject his forgiveness as this next verse states, your judgment will be worse for you than the one who flat out rejects Christ. Romans 2:4,5. Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God. I hope you get this, in this world of uncertainties, we who believe, live in certainties. God deals in certainties. By rejecting Gods forgiveness, by refusing to serve Christ, you will store up wrath for yourself. It is guaranteed. But you might say that you go to church and you hear, or that you know, but you dont judge. For it is not the hearers of the law that are just before God, but the doers of the law will be justified, (Romans 2:13). Action faith, not profession faith. You live the Christian life, not just profess the Christian life. You reject now, you harden your heart. You feel as if you dont want Christ now, maybe later. You dont know if there will be a tomorrow for you. The question isnt what will I get for believing in Christ. It isnt simply believing that Christ died on the cross. For even the demons believe and tremble, (James 2:19). But they arent saved. The question is, do you want to die in your sins? Do you want to face God and by condemned for your sins? Or do you want to stand before God in confidence, knowing that your sins are forgiven? If you arent confident that you are saved, confess your sin before a holy God, ask for His forgiveness, confess that you believe that He sent His Son to die for your sins, and that He raised Him from the dead, and that you are asking Him to come into your life right now, to change you, and now you want to live a life that glorifies His Son Jesus Christ.
