Romans 6:12-23 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, - TopicsExpress

Romans 6:12-23 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. As we look at this passage of scripture tonight, let us notice that the bible tells us here to not let sin reign in our mortal bodies, that we should obey the lusts thereof. He then tells us to yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. He tells us that we have become the servants of God!!!!!!!!!! What does it mean to be the servants of God? Dear friends Jesus gives us this answer through the example of His life. As we study through the gospels, the one theme that we see over and over again is Jesus always seeking the will of His Father. Jesus tells us in Matthew 10:24-25 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? So if Jesus took upon Himself the form of a servant, should we not be seeking to do the same? We are the servants of God. Romans 12:1-2 tells us, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. James 4:7-8 says, Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. So what are we seeking? Are we seeking Gods will or our own will? The bible tells us in Psalms 37:4-5 to Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Are we seeking to please Him or ourselves? Paul says in Galatians 1:10, For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. So according to the fruit of our own lives, judge yourself, Whos servant are you? Dear friends we need to seek to be the servant of God and let Him have His way in our lives!!!!!!!!!! Remember, He has a plan, He has a purpose for you. Are you following His will, are you following His plan? Only you can answer that question, but of youre a child of God and youre not following His will, then you need to reevaluate your priorities and put God first in your life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
