Romans 8:29 “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be - TopicsExpress

Romans 8:29 “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.” (All things work together for good because God is bringing us through a process as children of God by faith in Christ. He knew we would trust His son. He selected us to be His for all eternity. He is bringing us into Christ-likeness through these all things that will prove the preeminence of Christ. The term “firstborn among many brethren” used in Col. 1, does not mean Jesus was created. He is eternal. It means He as priority over all creation. He is God revealed in the flesh. He is our highest priority and goal God is bringing us toward. So from start to finish salvation is of God. He foreknows our trusting Christ, He selects us for His grace and mercy, He calls us to trust in His son and when we do we are declared righteous in His sight by trusting in His son’s atoning work for salvation. Through all these stages which are from eternity to eternity (never ending), He will make us completely like Jesus and we will share His glory totally in Heaven and His kingdom. Our footprint on this earth is tiny compared to the broad scope of this eternal prism God is bringing us through. We must not doubt His love since He is perfecting us through Christ for all eternity. Momentary setbacks, disappointments and heartaches must be viewed through this prism as we move toward our ultimate destination of complete Christ-likeness. So trust God He knows what He’s doing! Do it when you don’t understand His ways for He always has our best interest in mind so we might glory in all that He does.)
