Benzema, who also has been in impressive form this season and part of Madrid’s prolific strike partnership with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo (BBC), says he is happy to play alongside the 2013 FIFA Ballon dOr winner. “In my opinion Cristiano is the best player of all time,” Benzema told French TV football show Telefoot. “I get the chance to play alongside the best player in the world, Cristiano. “I’m so happy to get along well with him.” The Los Blancos are unbeaten in 31 games in all competitions and Benzema has contributed 21 goals to this impressive campaign. “I’ve been through some tough times, but I’ve always had confidence in myself,” he continued. “At the end of the day this is turning out to be a good year. “In my opinion Real Madrid is the best club in the world. There’s nothing bigger. The 26-year-old also scored the important 2-0 goal in France’s World Cup play-off return leg against Ukraine, which helped his country to qualify for the Brazil World Cup following their 3-0 win after they had lost the first leg 2-0, and thanked Zinedine Zidane for his support. “Zidane makes me a better player every day,” he added. “My goal against Ukraine is the most important of my international career, because it was to qualify for the World Cup. “Nobody expects anything from us in the World Cup. We’re not favourites. “That’s good for us. We can be the dark horses.”
