Rooftop Recruitment rooftop.recruitment@gmail 0726682520 Sustainability Manager • The individual will be responsible for translating business strategy into workable sustainable development plans, ensuring adherence to sustainability policies, procedures and protocols. • Undertake the Management Responsibilities defined in Section 6.10 (Sector Unit Manager) of the Management Handbook (July 2012). • The Sustainability Manager will have a two-fold role - firstly to drive sustainability and its implications within the company and secondly to build the unit into a functional and profitable business service line. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS • Lead in the inputs to the CEOs Office on the companies Sustainability Strategy • Implement the companies Sustainability Strategy - including Unit business plan and marketing strategy, focussing on internal commodities and external service lines • Create awareness internally to companies sustainability journey • Implement defined strategies and develop comprehensive policies and performance plans that encompass goals, best practice that move the organisation towards a sustainable future focused organisation • Prepare companies Sustainability Report as a formal start to the reporting and monitoring system to be implemented as part of the company Sustainability Strategy • Coordinate activities with other disciplines and sectors to integrate and effectively utilise the sustainability model in all projects • In collaboration with other disciplines, evaluate, enhance, develop systems that monitor and assess progress towards achieving performance goals to all appropriate organisational levels / projects • Focus on optimising social and environmental impacts of the sustainability programs • Build sustainability unit through strategic networking and focused marketing • Create strong internal partners for project sustainability model implementation and growth • Build external client network • identify viable business opportunities though a combination of network coalitions and open tendering processes • Develop and manage unit project pipeline. • Develop a team to support in the growth of the Sustainability Unit • Effective Project Management as project leader • Building the unit implies developing an economically sustainable business plan, forming the necessary network connections with support firms, identifying relevant potential business streams and focusing marketing efforts in this regard. It also requires that the Unit develop a firm order book of secured projects. JOB REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE • A Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or similar; Environmental Management; in either case higher qualification in sustainability or sustainability field specifically. • 8 years working experience in environmental, or development sectors • GRI training in reporting and reporting processes. • At least 1 years experience with regards to working specifically with sustainability issues. • Minimum of 1 year standard experience in managing a unit/section • Minimum of 1 years experience in winning new work • Job description_ CORE • Organised. • Understanding of the GRI framework and reporting process. • Good project management skills. • Knowledge of specific sustainability services such as e.g carbon footprinting methodologies. • Committed. • Attention to details. • Strategic understanding of sustainability in all spheres. • Team player. • Good written and verbal capabilities. • Leadership qualities. • Planning, budget and financial management experience. • MS Word, Project and Excel capabilities, • Able to attract and retain A Players
