Rory McGilloway scored a wonder goal as FC Ladzio progress through to the Quarter Finals after beating Riyal Doha 4-1 Joe Hughes put Ladzio ahead, slotting the ball past Steve Robertson from close range against the run of play as Chris Thomson’s RDFC had more of the first half possession. Steven Powell and Chris Rodia were causing Ladzio problems with excellent link up and good inter change of passes in the center of the park. Powell mid way through the half was unlucky as Julius Buscher back in goals made a superb save low to his right pushing the ball on to the far post from Powells stinging right foot shot. With 10 minutes of the first half remaining, Ladzio started to exert themselves on this Cup tie finishing marginally the stronger side. HT FC Ladzio 1-0 Riyal Doha FC FC Ladzio Manager Keith Young wanted more of the same in the second half and finish the contest as quick as possible. With the Sky Blues starting the second half as they finished the first and against the run play, Luca was adjudged to have handled 30 yards out. Up stepped Evolution Soccer Coach Steven Powell to unleash a sensational Ronaldo-esck strike l that left Buscher rooted to the spot for 1-1. With Riyal now back in the game, FC Ladzio’s Bradley Scott rose highest at the back post less than two minutes after the equalizer for 2-1 which for a short spell dampened Riyal’s spirits. Ladzio continued to push and with Jamie Hughes making his first game back in 6 weeks through injury. was giving Riyal Doha’s back four a torrid time. His pace, link up play and crosses were causing huge problems for the Doha defenders to deal with. A third goal essentially killed the contest with Rory McGilloway coming late to meet Jamie Hughes cross. With five on the clock Ladzio were firmly in the driving seat when McGilloway scored one of the best solo efforts we are likely to see in the QIAFL. Flying down the left wing, McGillioway went past a number of opponents jinking one way then the next eventually putting the ball past Robertson from close range for 4-1. Although a loss for Riyal Doha, this season ended their most successful campaign in the QIAFL finishing higher than last seasons fifth place in arguably a much tougher competition in 2013-14 Ladzio are to meet ISL Stars who also progressed through to the Quarters and was the Sky Blues 18th win out of twenty games played so far season in all competitions conceding only 10.
