Rosebud Sioux Tribe Defending Childhood Initiative will be working with members of our collaborative body, RST attorney general and outside sources to amend the tribal code as it pertains to assaults against our children. I am asking for everyones input on this. THANK YOU The code specific to children reads: 5-5-5 REASONABLE FORCE USED BY A PARENT, GUARDIAN, OR TEACHER NOT ASSAULT - To use or attempt or offer to use force or VIOLENCE toward the person of another is NOT ASSAULT when committed by a parent or the authorized agent of any parent or by any guardian, teacher, or other school official in the exercise of a lawful authority to restrain or correct his child or ward provided restraint or correction has been rendered necessary by the misconduct of such child or ward of by his refusal to obey the lawful command of such parent or authorized agent, guardian, teacher, or other school official and the force or VIOLENCE used is reasonable in manner and moderate in degree.
