Roseville Fire activity report for August 5: 30 incidents, including an animal rescue. Residents had a tiny kitten--probably the offspring of a stray cat--that had been trapped under their deck for the past couple of days. Neither they nor Animal Control could get to it. Engine 2s crew came to the rescue, removed enough boards to get to the kitten, and then replaced the boards. They then took the kitten to the animal emergency vet hospital. Sadly, the 2 or 3 day-old kitten did not survive. Spaying and neutering is the best solution to the problem of stray and feral cats. The Placer SPCA has free and very low-cost programs to help, whether its an owned cat or a stray cat youd like to help--visit their website at placerspca.org for more information.
