Rotapan , Gold Rush Nugget Bucket Face Off Myself and two - TopicsExpress

Rotapan , Gold Rush Nugget Bucket Face Off Myself and two friends spent Tuesday and Wednesday of this week in Devon at Prospectors Point. It was chilly but we were dressed for it, being retirees we spent 4 hours a day only digging gravel processing down to fines then panning. We used two products to process the gravel right off the bar. 1) the Rotapan, loaned to me by Bruce Riddle 2) the Gold Rush Nugget Bucket ( GNRB) that I purchased out of the USA We did a head to head comparison between the two products; All gravel came from the same 3 ft sq area, we put three shovelfuls of gravel in each product. Then processed according to instructions to end up with the heavy sands. Once the tray was processed we tossed the gravel in the top tray and refilled it again for processing. We did this for a total of 20 trays of material then panned out the results from each. After 20 trays or 60 shovel fills of gravel in both the RotaPan and the GNRB we had three times more concentrates to pan out using the RotaPan. The RotaPan worked well retaining the larger material in the top tray while concentrating the heavier sand, black sands and small stones in the bottom tray, through the RotaPans rotary action many of the small stones were displaced into the bucket below, so you dont lose your tailings if you want to run them a second time. The Gold Rush Nugget Bucket, also did a good job. The first tray catches everything over 1/4 inch, it also has a second tray that catches everything between a 1/4 and 1/8 then the bowl (gravity sand and water trap) catches the heavies. I was impressed to see that after panning, both products had captured the same amount of flour gold. The RotaPan required a bit more work than the GNRB, the RotaPan captures the tailings in a bucket while the GNRB discards the tailings. Packing in either product is pretty easy the RotaPan only weighs about 3 lbs and the GNRB about 1.5 LBS. The RotaPan is made of metal and very sturdy while the GNRB us made from plastic and prone to wear eventually. In summary, for myself the GNRB works best for me as it reduces the volume of material to be panned but I would not be unhappy if I only had a RotaPan in my arsenal of tools. If you are looking for a RotaPan contact Bruce Riddle on this FB Group as he has one for sale at a steal of only $150. If you are interested in a Gold Rush Nugget Bucket go to goldrushnuggetbucket. Hope you found this post informative.
