Rotherhams Police & Crime Commissioner, Shaun Wright has refused - TopicsExpress

Rotherhams Police & Crime Commissioner, Shaun Wright has refused to resign his £85,000 per annum post after the scandal of at least 1,400 victims of child abuse while he was/is in charge. The Prime Minister and Ed Milliband have also commented he should resign with others but he still clings to his post. What I found amazing was nobody could actually fire him! They may need to ask the Home Secretary to draft emergency laws clearing the way for his removal from the elected post. How can we give jobs like these away and not hold the person in charge responsible, let alone not be able to remove them if there performance is unsatisfactory. In the real world there would be performance reviews and termination but once again these sort of jobs are hidden from the public and it is not until something goes wrong that it is brought to light. Yet again people who make the rules but dont live by them. Further more a Home Office researcher told MPs that police had threatened and put pressure on her to change the findings of a report in which she had uncovered evidence of the scale of abuse in Rotherham. Her office was also broken into and data stolen. And they want us to believe that police behavior is fairly investigated by their own, even though it is called independent investigation, we have plenty of proof to the contrary, Stephen Lawrence for example. Keep it in the family is the term that comes to mind. All these institutional systems needs to be overhauled and elitism abolished. Dont get me wrong we have great system, some better than most countries in the world but that doesnt mean we cant improve or that there is no room for improvement. Just because the elite makes the rules does it mean they can get away with what they want?
