Round 4 Lake Dyer After having 2 local meetings, no more than - TopicsExpress

Round 4 Lake Dyer After having 2 local meetings, no more than half an hour from our workshop, it was our turn to travel. A Big thanks to John and Dianne Niddrie and our newest team member for the weekend, Josh, for taking the time out to drive the van and boat up for us. The rest of the team flew in Friday and were looking forward to our first visit to Laidley. It was a great looking venue, with a Triangle course, the first time for the series having us all wondering how it would level out the racing with an extra turn and an extra straight for the drivers to contend with. It was to prove to be excellent for both the crowd and the teams. Saturday Race 1 We drew pole 5 and we were confident we had the boat speed to do well. Down the front straight and we hit the first pin well in front of the field. Unfortunately the boat just would not handle in the rough water and we were passed by a very fast looking Decision, Bad Influence and Bad Intent and that was the final race order with Mark coming in fourth. Race 2 After our fourth place in Race 1 we made some changes and once again we were starting from pole 5. This time Darryl Quinn got a great start and got to the first pin first and was never headed from there, Mark had a much better run coming home second, with the ever consistent Rod MacKay coming home in third. Unfortunately Brent Lewis in Decision stopped during the race and had plenty of work to do overnight to get the boat back on the water. We also were still chasing set up issues, trying to get the boat to handle on the course better. A big thank you must go out to Chris Whalan, who took the boat for a run Saturday afternoon, to familiarise himself with the boat. As you may or may not know Mark’s wife is due to give birth to their second child on the weekend of the Windsor spectacular. Chris has very kindly agreed to drive the boat for Mark should he not be able to make it. Saturday night and back to the hotel for the Immortal crew as we worked hard on boat set up with Brett and John Niddrie and Darren Agius all Brainstorming and working together to get the boat ready. Sunday Race 3 We drew pole 2 for the first race of the day with the whole team wondering if all our hard work would finally start to pay off. Mark got a great start and it was evident at the first turn that all the hard work done by the boys had improved the boat and Mark was driving well. We powered on to a great win with Darryl Quinn and Rod MacKay having a great battle for second Darryl charging from outside pole in a great drive to take the second place at the final turn. Race 4 and we have outside pole. In what is becoming Marks trademark he got a slow start ,but charged back down the straight coming out of the first turn in third place right beside Rod Mackay with the boat getting better and better, by the second turn we were in front and never looked back from there, once again Rod and Darryl had a great battle for second place and Darryl got in front and took out second place. A great drive from Mark, one of the best I have seen, and I think we showed just what the Immortal Evercraft is capable of. Overall second for the weekend 2 points behind the Bad Influence boat with Bad Intent getting the third place. Another great weekend for team Immortal and we still hold the points lead in the series with one round to go. As always a big thankyou to all our sponsors BNR Engines, Crowns Premium Energy drinks, Sheridan Building Services, Lucas Oils, GTrack Developments, Advanced Magnetos and Independent Cranes, without all your support we would not be able to do what we do.
