Round 5 v Strathmore Heights After losing the toss and being forced to bowl first, we immediately knew we were in for a rough day with two late exclusions and 9 players in the field. Our first session was terrible and our bowlers were dispatched accordingly to all parts of the ground. At 5-156 after 17 overs, we thought we were in for a mammoth run chase. Tom Murray decided he didnt want any part in that, and bowled an outstanding spell of leg spin bowling to claim 4/19 and bowl them out in 25 overs for 188. A notable moment was when one of their batsmen thought he hit a boundary, only to be run out by Justin Zahra whilst he was strolling up the pitch back to his crease. Our innings started brightly with fill-in and senior debutant Marcus Hatzistavrou making a quick fire 25, before having to retire to attend a prior commitment. Coming in at 3 saw Keith Stone show some guts with a strong innings of 47, posting his highest ever total. With wickets falling consistently thereafter and failing to pick the gaps and capitalise on some poor spin bowling, we needed 22 of the last over only to be bowled out for 170. Seeing as we were looking at chasing 300+ at drinks, our efforts were excellent after that and we can draw positives out of this loss. Report by Stephen Hatzistavrou
