Round 7 Well it was a big friday night of tennis over the hill for round 7. With the juniors and hotshots starting the night off it was great to see the clubhouse so full of people enjoying a very social friday night at the tennis. Out on the courts 2 very interesting matches took place with it being a night match we only played 3 sets each. With harvest almost over most sides were almost at full strength. Bottomed placed Kia were looking for a win against Boonoonar to get off the bottom, while Boonoonar were looking for a win to possibly take top spot. This game turned out to be a thriller. The Kia men were to strong for Boonoonars men beating them by 8 games, but luckily Boonoonars ladys reduced that margin by winning their section by 5 games making the difference 3 games leading into the mixed. Boonoonar came out on top in the mixed by 6 games therefore giving them the overall victory by 3 games. Three set winners for for Boonoonar were Helen Crouch, Ellen Morrish and Charlotte Nixon. Three set winners for Kia were Wayne Grace and Deanne Munro. Scores O.L Boonoonar 8 sets 65 games Kia 7 sets 62 games. The other game Was top team United against third placed Walpy. With Boonoonar threatening to take top spot from United they need the win but were not good enough on the night. Walpy were to good in all 3 sections winning the men by 7 games, the ladies by 6 games, and they also won the mixed by 6 games giving them a 17 game victory. Three set winners for Walpy were Samuel Mead, Scott Brady, Lyndal Munro and Kate Nixon. james Phillips won his 3 sets for United. Scores O.L Walpy 11 sets 77 games def United 4 sets 60 games. Ladder to come.
