Round one Pro’s Update 1pm Some parts breakage has slowed the program, but the very cloudy skies are staying quiet and are projected to cooperate today. Here’s a quick update on some of the Pro classes while a track clean up ensues. In T/F Larry McBride smoked the tire vigorously in the L lane and had to peddle Ol’ Blue, but got the job done to take out Chris Hand. Dave Vantine posted a 6.06 elapsed time with a huge MPH 246.30! Sam Wills with the Nitro Conspiracy bike continues to have teething problems, and slowed well before half track. Larry and Dave will duke it out later today. In the Pingle Top Fuel Twin race, Tommy Grimes took out Armon Furr, 6.24 to 6.73, which was the best performance of the weekend for Red’s team. Ricky House returned to normal form with a 6.36 @ 211 to defeat a broken Paul Kelly. Tak Shigematsu defeated Jake Stonedeuk 6.21 to 6.78, and that 6.21 by Tak had a stout 225mph attached to it. Tracy Kile had a solo as Mitch Brown broke. In the Hawaya Racing P/F class, Rebel Glove defeated Jordan Cruz, 7.44 to 7.60, Janette Thornley 7.32 over Preston Bartlett 7.47, Steve Pleasant 7.60 over Rocky Jackson 8.145, Dale Nilles 7.27 over Howard Wiggins 7.38, Willie Herschberger 7.57 over a broken Keith Kelly, Johnny Vickers 7.19* over Tyler Wilson, and Billy Jackson had a solo in the final run with an elapsed time of 7.55. Billy was to run Clint Pleasant, but nitro carnage destroyed his motor on his last qualifying pass.
