Round seven of the Toughshet National Twinshock Championships takes place on Sunday August 3 at Upton Court, Little Hereford run by the Cumbria Twinshock Club. Entries are still available in most classes, and the Pre-83 125 boys will be with us for this one. Call Chloe Hudson at Cumbria Twinshock if you requirea transponder hiring. Here is the report from last unday at Warmingham. Toughsheet National Twinshock Championships Round 6 Cumbria Twinshock Club Warmingham Lane, Middlewich With twelve hours of incessant rain, from early Saturday morning, the planned double header of the Toughsheet National Twinshock Championships at Warmingham Lane, had to be curtailed to just the one day on Sunday. The Cumbria Twinshock Club could not have had the track looking better as riders arrived on Friday, but were powerless to stop the elements, and common sense prevailed, with all the riders agreeing to wave the Saturday racing. Sundays practice put a lot of riders off, until Simon Chell worked his magic on the digger to remove the gloop from the top surface, which left the LPE Clubman facing a shortened but rideable lap when they came to the line for the first race. And it was Reece Winsor, part of the Williamson Racing Team who took the honours with three well earned victories, and with it the CNR Burrows Transport Rider of the day award. Championship leader Andy Steel, Gary Craddock and Les Webster followed him home in the first, before Sean Burrows got the bit between his teeth and took the next two runner up spots from Craddock each time. The MD Racing Over 50’s and 60’s raced together, and it turned out to be a Pete Mathia masterclass, as he won all three to take the Over 60’s, with times that would have put him in fifth in the experts. Second in the over 60’s went to John Mercer, who clawed back valuable points on series leader Geoff Stokes who had machine trouble in race three. Dave Mozley was well chuffed with third place. There were some fierce battles in the Over 50’s, but it was Phil Martindale who came out on top winning the first from Alan Bott, Alan Eaves and Phil Wilkes. He also took the second from Chris Woodward, Phil Ryan and Wilkes, before Woodward took the third race win from Martindale, Ryan and Terry Connor. The overall win meant that Martindale closes the gap to leader Alan Eaves, who was carrying an injury, but special mention must go to Phil Wilkes who had his best result of the season in fourth overall. The Wulfsport Experts was short in numbers but not short of fast and furious racing as Alex Butler led every lap of the first race only for his bike to break down within sight of the chequered flag, and it proved to be terminal as he took no further part in the days action. This was a bonus for Danny Hiorns as he stormed to the win from Gary Parker, Michael Smith and Chris Chell. Race two was almost a repeat result as Hiorns once again took the win from Parker, but this time Willie Burgess was up there in third. Race three was the best though as Burgess held off the marauders to take an excellent win from Parker, Hiorns and Smith. The Falcon Shocks 250 class raced alongside the experts, and Steve Denton seemed to loved the sticky conditions, and took three wins for the overall. Chad Sait took second with a pair of runner ups and a third, and young Tom Goddard persevered for a great third. The Herts MX Vets class provided some top class motocross with Danny Blakeley really showing the others how it’s done taking the first race from Dave Campbell, Lee Jackson and Paul Coward. He did not have it all his own way though as Garry Jones took race two from Blakeley, Coward and Jackson. Blakeley claimed the overall by taking race three, but not before a superb dice with Campbell and Coward. The CI Sport class had three different winners with Chris Anderton, Steve Morgan and Connor Jones each tasting victory. But it was Mark Burrows who took the overall with two seconds and a third. Jack Goddard got the better of father Steve to take second on the podium. The Yorkshire VMX 125 Twinshocks and Evos raced together, and it was Sean McCrea who took the twinshocks class from Dave Ellis and Andrew Robinson. In the 125 Evo class Lee Holland consolidated his lead in the series with two wins and a second to take the overall from Richard Wood who won the second race. Anthony Hartley took the final place on the rostrum. Things did not go to plan for series leader Danny Hiorns in the Motolink Yamaha Evolution class, as he did not finish race one, and this meant a great first outing of the day for Jonno White as he took race one from Michael Smith. Hiorns hit back in the next two though, winning them both from Smith, who then took his first overall win of the year with three seconds. White was runner up on the day from Andy Hinchliffe and Hiorns. There was an extra modern class added to the day, and it was Craig Reynolds who reigned supreme with three classy wins, each time from John Lee, with young Connor Smith wringing the neck off his little Husqvarna, in third and Mathew Robinson in fourth.
