Round-up ready GMOs are genetically engineered to be doused with pesticides and live to tell the tale. And it can be confusing because Its not so much the GMO-nature of the seeds but more the toxic pesticides they spray on the plants - and the GMO-nature allows the plant to survive - and like Frankenstein-plants, they end up in our food. You wouldnt be eating the pesticides normally, or at least in a far lower amount - because you wouldnt be eating a pesticide-laden dead plant. So for this reason the poison is discussed in terms of GMO rather than pesticide - although theyre closely interwined. Its important to understand that you cannot wash glyphosate (aka Roundup) off genetically engineered foods. After the round-up is sprayed on the plant - its sucked into its cellular structure through osmosis and watering so that the Roundup is incorporated into each cell of the plant. Now they have to add 2, 4-D - an element of agent orange - because the glyphosate alone isnt doing the trick anymore. The weeds have become resistant to it - because that is how nature behaves. Not to mention what the round-up does to the soil - but thats another whole conversation. Currently, Roundup ready seeds are only available in the varieties of sugar, corn, soy and wheat. But I heard they just approved Round-up ready alfalfa - so say goodbye to your GMO free grass-fed beef. Consuming Roundup Ready GMOs isnt safe. CONSUMING PESTICIDES ISNT SAFE! From a respected peer-reviewed scientific journal. Abstract: Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup®, is the most popular herbicide used worldwide. The industry asserts it is minimally toxic to humans, but here we argue otherwise. Residues are found in the main foods of the Western diet, comprised primarily of sugar, corn, soy and wheat. Glyphosates inhibition of cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes is an overlooked component of its toxicity to mammals. CYP enzymes play crucial roles in biology, one of which is to detoxify xenobiotics. Thus, glyphosate enhances the damaging effects of other food borne chemical residues and environmental toxins. Negative impact on the body is insidious and manifests slowly over time as inflammation damages cellular systems throughout the body. Here, we show how interference with CYP enzymes acts synergistically with disruption of the biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids by gut bacteria, as well as impairment in serum sulfate transport. Consequences are most of the diseases and conditions associated with a Western diet, which include gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, depression, autism, infertility, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
