Rouven Essig of Stony Brook University and his colleagues have looked at data from E137, an experiment that shot a beam of high-energy electrons into an aluminum target at SLAC in the early 1980s. Although the experiment was designed to look for axions (a hypothetical particle invoked to explain the absence of CP violation in the strong force), its results - as Essig realized - also bear on the properties the χ (a hypothetical particle invoked to explain dark matter).
