Rowley asks: Is Dick related to McLeod? Shaliza Hassanali Published: Sunday, October 5, 2014 Opposition leader Dr Keith Rowley is calling on Labour Minister Errol McLeod to clarify whether Assistant Police Commissioner Wayne Dick is a member of his family. On Wednesday, acting Commissioner of Police Stephen William blasted a decision by Cabinet to buy out the leave of Dick last Thursday. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar was in New York when the decision was taken and Labour Minister Errol McLeod was then acting as prime minister at the Cabinet sitting. Yesterday, Rowley raised the issue at the PNM’s Women League in St Augustine. “The person who was acting must tell this country if that person whose leave was bought out is any member of his family. If it turns out that that person is a member of the family of the acting Prime Minister, then the Integrity Commission has another job to do, because the Integrity Commission is required to intervene in any situation where a public officer takes an action solely for the benefit of his family or friends.” Rowley said if McLeod admits that Dick is related to him, “then I call on the Integrity Commission to get into the matter immediately, to have the appointment reversed, and to have Mr McLeod answer for his action.” Attempts to reach McLeod yesterday on his cell were unsuccessful.
