Roy Hodgson has ruled Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out of making a return for England against Uruguay tonight. The Arsenal man is recovering from a knee injury sustained in Miami, and trained with the team at Arena Corinthians on Wednesday, but the Group D game in Sao Paulo may come too early for him. He is not in contention, but he will take part in the next full training session, Hodgson revealed. This was his last training session as, if you like, an individual. We could have taken a chance with him, but it would be much better if he uses the four days after this game and before the Costa Rica game to train with the team. Fortunately for us, his actual injury has responded really well to treatment, but I dont think we will put him into the firing line before he has had some training sessions with the team.
