Roy et al (2013 Military Medicine) compared occupational tasks and incidence of low back pain in deployed military personnel. They found overall there was approximately a 77% incidence of low back pain. Time in body armour was the risk factor most closely associated with low back pain. Many of our patients walk round (or not) with body armour on all day everyday, in the form of 5k plus of adipose.
