~Royalty Yes, I can read minds. I don’t how or why, but it started way back when I was a teenager. Can you even imagine having such a power at that age? Well, you don’t have to imagine, because it first happened with Alison. Alison sat a desk ahead and a row over in class, which meant I could stare at her all I wished. And believe me, I wished. I wished so hard that one day I suddenly found myself in Alison’s head, and the most private space in her head—her twisted thoughts, darkest desires, the worst secrets she wanted to keep hidden—it was all mine. I knew. And when she turned to look at me with a revolted look in her beautiful brown eyes, I discovered something else about my power: the minds I read can also read mine at the same time. They learn my secrets, the things I want to keep hidden. Poor Alison. Since then I’ve accumulated worse secrets, so I’ve taken a great deal of care to ensure no one knows about my ability. Because when I do slip, people find out about Alison. They find out about that look of revulsion, about how she obviously knew my secrets, and about the things I did to punish her for it. She tried to deny it, she screamed and screamed that she couldn’t read minds, but you can’t lie to a mind reader. At least now, no one in the world knows about my power, or about Alison. Well, not anymore. No one but you.
