Rs 6500 million bill by IAF, NDRF to JK govt cruel joke: Geelani Distributes Rs 10 lakhs among flood victims Srinagar, Oct 20: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani today distributed cheque of Rs 10000 and relief kit to each of the 50 most deserving families of Budgam and Kulgam districts under the amalgam’s interim relief package at amalgam headquarters, Hyderpora, here. Speaking on the occasion, Geelani assured the victims that the whole nation was with them at this time of grief. “The pro-Indian politicians are distributing meagre relief and that too among their favorites only. The relief distribution is also done according to the vote bank politics and the real affected people are not listed anywhere,” a spokesman of Hurriyat, in a statement today, quoted said Geelani as saying. Commenting on the reports about bill of Rs 6,500 million sent by the Indian Air Force (IAF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to the state government for their ‘so-called’ rescue and relief works, Geelani said, “Our apprehensions are proving right that the Indian government will distribute the announced relief amount among its different departments and Kashmiris will get only the lollypop from that. Firstly the IAF and NDRF saved only few selected tourists in the recent floods and left the common people to die. Secondly, the biscuits and other food items which they dropped from the choppers for the people were expired and of no use. The bill of Rs 6500 million sent to the state government for this work is not only unfair but it is also a cruel joke in the name of central relief package.”
