Rubin Hurricane Carter, the former boxing champion whose murder conviction was overturned after serving nearly 20 years in prison, died yesterday of prostate cancer. Carter, whose story inspired a Denzel Washington film, was 76. His story also inspired Bob Dylan to write the song Hurricane based on the events of the murder and trial.
