Rude awakening for neighbours from hell whose out-of-control children, rowdy relatives and round-the-clock drinking make life a nightmare for those living nearby as theyre given early morning eviction notices Nightmare neighbours were treated to an early wake-up call yesterday when they were handed warning letters and eviction notices on their doorsteps by police. Police and council officers have turned the tables on North Tynesides most troublesome tenants. It is claimed that those whose out-of-control children, rowdy relatives and round-the-clock drinking sessions have made life horrible for the people living around them. Neighbours from hell in Longbenton, Forest Hall, Palmersville and Dudley were given warning letters and even eviction notices in the series of early-morning knocks by police. Northumbria Polices Killingworth Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Safer Estates Team from North Tyneside Council visited 14 homes where either the tenants, their visitors or their relatives have allegedly been involved in crime or anti-social behaviour. As part of an initiative, code-named Operation Respect, the householders were served with either legal letters warning them to mend their ways or notices that evictions proceedings will soon be under way. Colin Boxshall, North Tyneside Councils safer estates manager said: In partnership with police we will take whatever action is necessary to ensure residents are able to enjoy peace and quiet in their own homes and neighbourhoods. A 44-year-old woman was served with an eviction notice after reports she had assaulted a neighbour, while a couple aged 38 and 37, were warned about the behaviour of their 16-year-old daughter. A warning was delivered to the home of an elderly man whose 39-year-old daughter is an alleged prolific shoplifter and pickpocket, and another to the home of a family linked to those involved in a mass brawl on a Metro train earlier this year. At one house a 30-year-old woman was warned she could lose her home because of the behaviour of her six and seven-year-old children, who are suspected of starting a number of fires in the area. Meanwhile at another three homes in Dudley, parents and grandparents were served with warnings about the behaviour of three teenagers living at their homes. Council officials also told tenants they now have increased powers to deal with anti-social behaviour under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, which recently came into force. Mr Boxhall said: We welcome the reforms to tackle anti-social behaviour, which put victims at the heart of our response to anti-social behaviour. They can lead to swifter evictions for tenants who continue to engage in anti-social behaviour. New powers introduced by the Government under the Anti Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 mean private and social landlords can evict nightmare tenants more quickly, rather than leaving them in properties for months or even years while lengthy court proceedings take place. The fast-track process works by allowing previous convictions for serious anti-social behaviour. #neighboursfromhell #eviction #notices #tenants #council
