Rue Mouffetard. (mouf-tar) _ a 14 min video. Found this on Youtube, There may be better vids of the area? but this one is fine. does a nice job showing the nhood where we are staying in Paris ( And reiterates what i was told a couple of weeks ago by a young woman who lives nearby … Hemmingway once lived not far from where we are staying and the Place is the setting for his famous book, A Moveable Feast) Our hostel (Young and Happy Hostel at 80 Rue Mouffetard) is located approx 3/4 up between the two Places at either end of the Rue. , The whole area is only about 8 -10? blocks long.. cobble stone street . This street/area is one of those oldest areas in Paris, going back to the Romans takeover.. . Ive stayed in 5 different areas of Paris now on my visits (close by, or within a 20 min walk of (Sacre Coueur, Champs Elysee, Pere Lachaise Eiffel Tower, and now, Latin Quartier Rue Mouffetard,. Rue Mouffertard is fav so far (for me) , I will l prob stay here again at this hostel if staff stays the same or if new staff is just as helpful and friendly. The Staff here is great, and location is wonderful. I have looked into AirB&B for an apt to rent in this area, It may or may not make more financial sense then a hostel. but so far.. I have not seen an apt to rent that is right by this area that is affordable. IF i did find one and it was the same amount (about 100euro a night , it STILL may not be the best deal for me. Yes, they may be more modern and cleaner (newer) etc and not as noisy on a busy street (I happen to like that doesnt bother me a bit) . BUT Id miss out on the Hostel experience and that is right up; my alley. . Meeting other travelers from around the globe and sharing a great bottle of wine (that costs very little here) or coffee, or a salad and bread… whatever.. is part of the beauty of traveling! SO its whatever your priorities are.. for me its location, and meeting people, and little wonders and discoveries like hearing authentic (older) Parisian singers and players across the street singing French songs! youtube/watch?v=ctL6PTSpn90
