Ruffys day 4 Europe Tonights gig club UCHO, Gdynia, Poland. Up at 07:45 good breakfast at the Armony hotel, we stayed here last time and both my phone and computer effortlessly log in the the wi-fi which has the same code from when we stayed here last year. So catch up on my email and post my day 3 Berlin blog. A good breakfast here with an egg person (someone who will make you poached eggs or an omelette to order) good coffee as well as falafel, german sausage, salmon, salads, breads and pastries. We leave at 09:30 to the sound of this Sunday mornings church bells Its a long drive today, 475 kilometres to Gdynia in Poland, Its a port near Gdansk on the Baltic sea. It takes eight hours, some of the road in former East Germany is really rough and its foggy, the road gets a little better as we enter Poland, as does the weather but its a single lane road most of the way through, Its very pretty though and after 3 hours we stop for a lunch of Pierogis (Polish dumplings) and local beer. Back on the bus for another five hours to the gig. Tonight sees Poland playing in the final of the mens Volleyball World Championship against Brazil, they beat Germany yesterday in the semi and everyone here is very exited, they are a Patriotic nation and seem well chuffed to have beaten the Germans yesterday! Its bad news for us though as the promoter thinks most people will be watching the game on T.V rather than venture out for a punky reggae party, Oh and did I mention that Its raining cats and dogs? So the gig is, ahem, less than rammed, but we give it our best shot, the P.A is quality as is the engineer and the sound is good! We are on form what with playing every night and the punters are well pleased. We meet most of them after the gig, I dont think Ive ever signed as much stuff! photos are done, we hear some stories, Its our first ever visit to Poland and folks are very happy to have us there. Its a short walk to the hotel and we meet a few more punters outside share a drop of their J.D and say ciao. a last nightcap with Segs and Leigh in the bar, apparently Poland beat Brazil tonight (well done chaps) and its into the arms of Morpheus (sleep) for me.
