#RuggeroRespigo on #Reddit #stockmarket [Canada] One a day draft reviews: District of Columbia Workaholics So... he traded away all his picks. I was thinking, because he didnt get to participate in the draft Id do a review of the moves he made to get rid of the picks. Fun? Yeah!DOCW finished 8th in Sigma (now Canada) last year, but because of potential points, received the 10th slot in the draft. Ouch. Nothing like being irrelevant in the division and having a crappy set of draft picks. Lets look at the deals in chronological order, and Ill add who was selected with those picks just for fun:District of Columbia Workaholics gave upForte, Matt CHI RBYear 2014 2.10 (Cody Latimer)Surrogate City 73s gave upVereen, Shane NEP RBThompkins, Kenbrell NEP WRYear 2014 1.10 (Allen Robinson)I covered this trade in my review for the 73s. This was just a terrible, terrible trade for the DOCW. Even subtracting the second rounder that he gave up, Forte is worth more than what the 73s offered. Even if you truly believe in Vereen and Thompkins, it should have been Forte for those two and a 1st and a 2nd from the 73s to make it a level trade.District of Columbia Workaholics gave upJohnson, Chris TEN RBSmith, Steve CAR WRSmith, Torrey BAL WRYear 2014 1.10Philadelphia Phins (whoever they used to be) gave upBryant, Dez DAL WRNow, this is a great trade for the DOCW. Rather than auctioning off studs for middling talents, hes acquiring studs with middling talents. The only possible building block on the holics side is Torrey Smith, but I dont see him ever truly breaking in to that upper WR1 echelon. Especially not on a run oriented team like Baltimore.District of Columbia Workaholics gave upSpiller, C.J. BUF RBTate, Golden SEA WRYear 2014 3.10 (Paul Richardson)Year 2014 4.10 (Quincy Enunwa)New Mexico Cooks gave upStacy, Zac STL RBYear 2014 1.03 (Bishop Sankey)Full disclosure, Im not a Stacy believer. But, if he turns out to be the future bell-cow back that some envision him to be, this trade was good. In hindsight it looks like he gave up too much, but this was definitely market value at the time. The Stacy hype train was in full force, and Spillers stock was as low as it had ever been. He did get what became a high 1st round pick along with Stacy, which I like. Were still going to have to wait to see who got the better of this one...Rochester Ordinal Cardinals gave upGerhart, Toby JAC RBEdelman, Julian NEP WRDistrict of Columbia Workaholics gave upYear 2014 Draft Pick 1.03 (Bishop Sankey)Year 2015 Round 3 Draft Pick from District of Columbia WorkaholicsYear 2015 Round 4 Draft Pick from District of Columbia WorkaholicsI dont like this trade at all for DOCW. Gerharts ceiling is that of an RB2, and he might even lose that job during the season outright. Edelman is the definition of a system guy, meaning his value could drop off of a cliff at anytime. Ill take a flier on him in redraft, but hes exactly the kind of player I dont want in dynasty. That third pick could also have been Cooks or Matthews, neither of which Id give up for Gerhart and Edelman. Throw in two more 2015 picks, this wasnt a good trade for the holics.Wrap UpObviously, he doesnt value rookie picks. Which is fine, I dont mind trading those away for proven players. Hey, let everybody else chase possible value while you covet proven value. I have two critiques of his move thus far:His better trades were when he was trading depth for studs (Dez and Stacy), and his worst were when he did the opposite (Forte). The danger of having too much depth and not enough studs is what he saw in 2013: a terrible record but a lot of potential points. It will keep you irrelevant in the standings, and make it tougher to infuse new talent. He trades away his picks at a point of low value, during the season. Try waiting until near the draft, or at least after the combine. Wait for everybody to become enamored with 40 times, bench presses, and 3 cone drills. Then, cash in on the hype.Final NoteThe DOCW have already traded all of their 2015 picks.
