Rules For Decision (May 22, 1968) The new beginning now becomes the focus of the curriculum. The goal is clear, but now you need specific methods for attaining it. The speed by which it can be reached depends on only this; your willingness to practice every step. Each one will help a little, every time it is attempted. And, together, they will lead you both from dreams of judgment to forgiving dreams, and out of pain and fear. They are not new to you, but they are more ideas than rules of thought to you as yet. So now we need to practice them awhile, until they are the rules by which you live. We seek to make them habits now, so you will have them ready, and for ANY need. Decisions are continuous. You do not always know when you are making them. But, with a little practice in the ones you recognize, a set begins to form which sees you through the rest. It is not wise to let yourself become preoccupied with every step you take. The proper set, adopted consciously each time you wake, will put you well ahead. And if you find resistance strong and dedication weak, you are not ready. DO NOT FIGHT YOURSELF. But think about the kind of day you want, and tell yourself there is a way by which this very day can happen just like that. The ideas do follow a logical and linear path but some times they get separated/dissociated from each other and the CONTENT seems irrelevant or illogical….however, the rules for decision are a pretty good guide to follow in any discourse of this A Course in Miracles together reading along… I just had an amazing disCOURSE using todays mind training exercise/ IDEA of lesson 25…I do not know what anything is for related to and, NEEDING the Voice for God to teach through comparisons using opposites which point to truth, for an instant joined to the theoretical foundations from chapters 1- 3 Retraining THE Mind. We laughed a lot making sense out of our mind wanderings IDEA 25 thesis is….PURPOSE IS MEANING. Meaning, to me, has become best understood joined with Idea 2s most powerful imagery to a different perception of everything IN THE WORLD requiring knowing ones own self as author/ meaning maker for projecting a different perception for everything in the world…I have/DO given/GIVE EVERYTHING I SEE [in the world] ALL THE MEANING IT HAS FOR ME. With the PURPOSE of the exercises being to train MY mind to a different perception of EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD and my need of a theoretical foundation such as the text necessary as a background to make these exercises MEANINGFUL which will make the GOAL possible [jcim.net/acim_us/Acim.php]… AND...Jesus, the teacher of the ego uses THE ego for comparison as The Voice for God, the teacher of ACIM, with this established curriculum whos AIM is to remove the blocks to loves awareness, not tolerate lack of love for yourself, RETRAINING THE MIND…using exercises to TRAIN the mind to A DIFFERENT PERCEPTION OF EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD involving a more direct approach to God Himself [jcim.net/acim_us/Acim.php]. I now am in awareness that KNOWING GOD IS KNOWING MY SELF….who is the teacher for that? Much in the established curriculum is repeated by learner/teachers giving everything they see in the world all the meaning it has for them personally, MAKING interpretations and iterations about Jesus teaching us we are CREATIONS of God. And, requently in the comparison form…i.e.: the separation did not occur, we are puppets, nothing here exists, God did NOT CREATE the world, God does not know of man, the course teaches US to do, think, feel, experience ONLY the egos perceptions and goals for EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD. That is obviously OK and certainy is one way to see what it says. AND, there is so much more proof that Jesus, The Voice for God, the teacher of the ego, told Helen and Bill, for all of us as ONE, from their call for love in the form there must be a different way,TO the egos perceptions/goals, which Jesus says are just UPSIDE DOWN and YES there is a comparison. There truly and really is a different way, you have never left your Source, this established curriculum is a direct approach to God, the Giver of Life, you can choose to REtrain your minds to a different perception of everything in the world AND you will live a happy dream together, here and eternally. USE whatever MEANS you WANT, makes no difference to me, either master the UNDOING of the EGO or MASTER Love. They will both lead to the same GOAL. One CREATES and the other MIScreates but neither is right or wrong. 96 When man miscreates he is in pain. The cause and effect principle here is temporarily a real expediter. Actually, Cause is a term properly belonging to God, and Effect, which should also be capitalized, is His Son. This entails a set of Cause and Effect relationships which are totally different from those which man introduced into his own miscreations. The fundamental opponents in the real basic conflict are creation and miscreation. All fear is implicit in the second, just as all love is inherent in the first. Because of this difference, the basic conflict is one between love and fear. 97 It has already been said that man believes he cannot control fear because he himself created it. His belief in it seems to render it out of his control by definition. Yet any attempt to resolve the basic conflict through the concept ofmastery of fear is meaningless. In fact it asserts the power of fear by the simple assumption that it need be mastered. Mastery of love is the purpose, means, aim and goal of the learning/teaching device and to deny THAT FACT is a very unworthy form of denial of TRUTH. The best defense, as always is not to attack anothers position/perception/interpretations BUT rather to PROTECT TRUTH. It is unwise to accept ANY concept if you have to turn a whole frame of reference around in order to justify it….Persecution is a frequent result, undertaken to justify the terrible MISperception that God Himself persecuted His own Son on behalf of salvation. The very words are meaningless…The evil conscience from the past has nothing to do with God. He did not CREATE it, and He does not maintain it. …Be very sure that you recognize how utterly impossible this assumption really is and how ENTIRELY IT ARISES FROM MISPROJECTION. This kind of erro is responsible for a host of related errors including the belief that God rejected man and forced him out of the Garden of Eden. It is also responsible for the fact that you may believe from time to time that I am MISdirecting you. I HAVE MADE EVERY EFFORT TO USE WORDS THAT ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DISTORT, but man is very inventive when it comes to twisting symbols around. Healing is of God in the end, this is a course in MIND TRAINING [jcim.net/acim_us/Acim.php], a guide for living life without fear or ending, living a life with a learning/communication device of God. I have come literally to see and DO believe that all which appears as comparison is purely to give the reader personal options to CHOOSE what they WANT TO LEARN, what they freely choose to elect at any given time. Some say ACIM is not a self-study curriculum, they are teachers of ACIM rather than Teachers of God, the separation did NOT occur, ACIM teaches WE are responsible for what we see CAUSING the world, we are responsible for healing the world and others. Recently someone sent me this personal iteration on the idea I have given everything I SEE in the world ALL the meaning it has form me this is my self-held perceptions/meaning of the world I SEE….Once again, the body is not real. How many times in this course, in all three books, does Jesus say your eyes do not see, your ears do not hear, your brains do not think, your bodies do not feel; they are not born, they do not die, they do not get sick, they do not get well—they do nothing? That also means they do not learn A Course in Miracles. Bodies do not learn. Think of a puppet. A puppet does not do anything. It cannot think, feel, or act. It is the puppeteer that makes the puppet move, speak, and appear to think. That is all we are. This has nothing to do with your body. The person you think you are, the person you see in the mirror does not study A Course in Miracles. It cannot. What are you reading studying, or thinking about it with? You think you are doing it with your brain and your eyes, but eyes do not see. The learning occurs in your mind. The Course is just a projection, a symbol in form—a set of symbols that reflect the principle of the Atonement in your mind, which says the separation from God never happened. That is not a symbol, it is a thought. However, as long as we think we are bodies, then this simple thought that undoes the ego has to be expressed in a form that we can relate to. A Course in Miraclesis one such form—there are thousands of others, and Jesus is one such teacher—there are thousands of others. We have the illusion—the magical belief—that we are learning and studying this course. People get so crazy about this. They get crazy about the words—they think these are Jesus literal words. How can he have literal words? He cannot speak a word. He does not have a mouth that speaks. He only says one word—Love—and that is not a word. This is not a holy book. This is pieces of paper, crushed-up wood with markings on it. Recall the passage where Jesus gently pokes fun at our love of money, referring to stacks of green paper strips and piles of metal disks (W-pI.76.3:2). Jesus would also make gentle fun of peoples worship of this course. This book is a set of symbols that reflect the single content of love, of the Atonement, that is in our mind. When you study this course, you are reflecting a process going on in your mind, where you are turning away from your ego, and the egos lies of separation, specialness, and sin, etc., and turning toward the Holy Spirit, Whose presence represents peace, love, healing, and the Atonement. All that is nonspecific, abstract, and does not occur in the body or in form, and does not have words. That is the reality; and that is where the action is. Whatever action you might say there is within the illusion is in the decision-making part of our mind that chooses against the ego or for the ego. The choice for the Holy Spirit, then, gets reflected by your being a student of this book or any other spirituality. As long as you are a body, you should do what bodies do. Thus, bodies read and study a book that they find important; they practice the books lessons; and they think about it. But this book will help you realize that you are not your body. Over and over again, you are not your body. Jesus means that very literally. The problem is that most students do not consider the fact that they are thinking about those lines with a brain that cannot think. The same book tells them that they do not think, their eyes cannot see, and their bodies are not real. So what happens? They end up taking their body very seriously as it studies and practices this very serious spiritual text. They also try to get other people to be very serious about it. After all, these are the words of Jesus…. Any form of iteration/perception/learning WILL work to get to the goal no matter which perception of everything in the world you choose as long as we are willing to be responsible for authoring our projections willing to agree that communications/expressions of language which cannot be understood without fear by the recipient is the egos form of perception of the egos goals for everything in the world and a corrective body action may be what is called for…I love that it works every time and immediately when I own up and say out loud…I have/do given/give everything I SEE in the world all the MEANING IT HAS FOR ME how about YOU? Jesus pretty obviously does WANT everybody to choose to live together in the world seeing with vision, speaking restored in the tongues of Gods Voice. I dont really know anything, but sure seems like there is nothing in this document endorsing ideas that anyone has any responsibility or authority for anything except being the author of their own projections. And any other use of projection by definition is INAPPROPRIATE USE OF physical impulses [or misdirected miracle impulses] [jcim.net/acim_us/Acim.php], misperception that man has the ability to USURP the power/WILL of God, calling for correction for these thinking/perception and behavior errors of the body[jcim.net/acim_us/Acim.php] . ACIM is ... RETRAINING the Mind to a different perception of everything in the world. What word symbols one uses to get there is personal and according to Jesus, there appears to be 7 SPECIAL PRINCIPLES FOR MIRACLE WORKERS…and number 7 clearly guides us to be here now to defend truth in this form we are existing in as Gods Teachers…DEFEND TRUTH at all cost, deny the denial of truth to those who would believe in denying the truth as true and real simply as upside down for an instant. 7. 10 The biblical injunction, Be of one mind is the statement for revelation-readiness. My own injunction, Do this in remembrance of me is the request for cooperation from miracle workers. It should be noted that the two statements are not in the same order of reality. The latter involves a time awareness since to remember implies recalling the past in the present. Time is under my direction, but Timelessness belongs to God alone. In time we exist for and with each other. In Timelessness we coexist with God. [jcim.net/acim_us/Acim.php] WHEW…after we talked all of this out we agreed that…the truth here is ... I DO KNOW WHAT EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD IS FOR….because I have the perception that everything in the world is STILL AS GOD CREATED. We ALL KNOW that is THE TRUTH, the whole truth and nothing but the TRUTH…I do not know what anything is for is an upside down statement for the reader to choose the exercises which leads to DEFENDING TRUTH, healing the separation of self from their Source. THEN choosing appropriate body projections more than the opposite to live together in peace, the peace of God having A joined MIND experiencing being Happy DREAMERS…..This Jesus dude was quite a mensch telling Helen to write it down for herself and all of us.
