Rumbling on Rupiah Rupiah Bwezani Banda - A President for all - TopicsExpress

Rumbling on Rupiah Rupiah Bwezani Banda - A President for all Zambians. Good economic manager. Balanced leader. Focussed gentleman. A diplomat. Had he been in power we would not have insulted South Africa, in fact, we could have been honoured guests at Mandelas funeral. Had he been in power, we would not have missed out on helping our Malawian cousins to celebrate their 50 years of independence. Had he been in power, our Kwacha would still be more manageable. He left $2 Billion in the bank which has all been squandered. He brought mobile hospitals. There was tangible confidence in our economy. He never insulted chiefs even if Mpezeni provoked him a lot. That is how you define a legacy. You rule for 3 years and your legacy lives on beyond that. That is how I can briefly describe Rupiah born in Gwanda, Zimbabwe, but a true Zambian at heart. Possibly born of Malawian parentage, but a genuine Zambian in the way he united a divided country and helped our country mourn the deaths of both Chiluba and Mwanawasa. They called him nyamasoya, but with a smile we have seen that Rupiah was the real deal. And then we got a hack into State House. Two weeks now, we cannot even talk about where he is. No one should state what on earth he is doing. Reports are contradictory. The nation is in total darkness, like a country forsaken by the dew of good rain. Everything is hidden, even if they should not be hidden. We all have seen that someone is human and could possibly be sick, but denials are just too annoying. And when we speculate, jail awaits us because Mwansa Kapeya likes being a jailer. We cannot even defend Kabimba because we do not know whether he is still acting. We are justified in asking. It is right to ask. But Kapeya and Katema say we should not even ask. We should only trust them when they say Sata is well. But if he is well, where is he? Is it too much to ask? Is it too much to ask the whereabouts of a leader elected by our people? But in circumstances like this, we could wish Rupiah was here. Some are calling for his return. It would be a bad idea to return Rupiah. Zambia has never lacked guys to take over. They are all over. There is Mulenga Sata. There is Wynter Kabimba. There is Harry Kalaba. All these can take over. There is Nevers Mumba. He is capable of taking over. Then there is Hakainde Hichilema. He too can become president. We have Edith Nawakwi and Dora Siliya. We have Inonge Wina and many others. We have never lacked the right women and men to rule. And we certainly in our democracy should encouraged leaders to arise and aspire. But we must not in any way lie our way out of crisis. And this particular crisis requires serious fortitude. But before Katema jails me, njipusheko. Bushe Michael Sata ali kwi?
