Rumor Has It - Again Heres Another One That is False As we noted yesterday, there are always going to be rumors. Well, another one we thought we had squashed popped up again on our Facebook page yesterday so we thought we had better address it too: the rumor that we are closing. This has probably come about because we are not able to take in any animals at this time due to financial constraints. We can assure you that no, we are not closing our doors. We are actively engaged in a several front attack if you will to stabilize revenue. There is the Save the Shelter campaign which has come a very long way in helping us get caught up on things, enabled us to start on some repairs and take care of the animals currently housed at the shelter. Another angle is a Corporate Campaign reaching out to past business members to renew their support and to pledge an on-going commitment of two, three, five, even ten years. Weve added events which we hope to become annual fun for the community such as Saturdays auction. Well be launching a membership drive in the coming months as well. Historically membership dollars have been the foundation of our revenue. Over the past ten years the effort to sustain memberships faded; we know we need to get back to basics and rebuild that membership base. We are working with grant writers to research and apply for grants to support programs such as Zeus Pantry and Operation Catnip. Committees outlined in the bylaws that were long dormant have been revived allowing members to be a part of the organization in fulfilling the mission. It took years to where we are, in the last three years weve made progress and weve had setbacks but we are actually in better shape (as is the building) than we were in 2011. It may not seem like it but we are making slow progress thanks to our volunteers and the support of the community. We have a long way yet to go but we are determined to get there ... with that critical element - your support.
