Rumor: Leaked Windows Phone 10 photos show panoramic Start screen backgrounds We’re starting to get more and more excited about the promise of some Windows Phone news in the near future, most likely at a January 21st event held at Microsoft’s campus in Redmond, WA. While we haven’t actually seen much of the new operating system yet, Windows Phone Italy seems to believe they have some photos of the software update in action. Although they don’t explain where they got these photos from, they do assure that it is Windows 10 and clearly there’s a big difference in appearance that most fans will notice immediately: panoramic Start screen backgrounds. Currently in Windows Phone 8.1, the background for the Start screen is more like a skin for the live tiles than a true wallpaper. However these photos depict a layout more similar to Windows 8.1, offering the user to have a real background which the tiles appear above. In these screenshots, the tiles are also somewhat opaque and the background spills over to the App List too (hence why it’s a panoramic background). Now before we get too carried away, these photos are unauthorized and Windows Phone Italy isn’t known for often having exclusive pre-release leaks. Also to be honest, we expect Windows 10 on phones to look quite a bit different than it does in these photos. That said, these photos could still be real – for instance, this could be an internal build of 8.1 that was simply used for testing some features. All we can take from this for now is that we like what we’re seeing
