Rumor has it that MARS Petcare is about to purchase Blue Buffalo to add to their porfolio. From the Mars Petcare website, the company owns “35 brands in total, including four billion dollar brands: Pedigree, Whiskas, Royal Canin, Banfield (veterinary clinics). Other leading brands: Cesar, Nutro, Sheba, Dreamies, KiteKat, Chappi, Catsan, Frolic, Perfect Fit and Greenies.” Natura Pet food brands – now owned by Mars – include Innova, Evo, California Naturals, HealthWise, and Mother Nature. Also owned by Mars are the Iams and Eukanuba brands. These purchases give Mars Petcare a total of 41 different pet food brands and one chain of veterinary clinics.
