Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Quite a rodeo on Monday. Fever of 103.5° right flank pain. Deteriorated mental status on arrival - how could they tell? I dont remember the trip at all; apparently involved speeding the ferry up. Finally woke up Tuesday to learn that theyd o.d.d me yet again - thats twice now I go in with a kidney and they o.d. me morphine. Sigh. So a chronic kidney stone got infected with about three different enterrococcal species, and a fourth one got the blood for a little go at septicemia. I am immune suppressed and have chronic kidney stones and stones in the right ureter. So. Well. No suprirses there. Shortness of breath demanded a CT scan with thoughts of the dred pulmonary emboli; twas only congestive heart failure (CHF). Also showed a lump on an adrenal gland, which will bear further investigation at a less critical juncture. 2 units of blood because blood, a dose of furosemide (diuretic) for the CHF, and 2 g ceftriaxone antibiotic i.v. via my very own PICC line. (PICC = Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) so Jerry can continue to infuse me at home. Did I tell you I love my PICC line? I got poked only once while I was awake. The bruises and monkey bites on my hands and arms tell a very different tale of when I was out of it. Did I tell you I love me some infusion nurse? Definitely top of the line and greatly to be praised. Cats are a little suspicious of me, smelling like the pokey-owie place. But Kitty Rou just climbed into my lap. Mrrphh was a little confused at (late) dinner and wasnt sure if she was supposed to be quiet or sit down or do both but which when or maybe same time... poor darling. Miles made lo-o-o-ong eye contact with me! Theres a first. So thats all the news from the Salish Sea. Ciao, all yallz.
