Run...job...saunter...step lively...even prance, if you must...its all for a good cause and will demonstrate a human sea of community support for six individuals. The 2nd Annual Red Shirt Run, to be held tomorrow, September 27th, is a family-friendly Event to benefit All Royal Candidates for FANTASY FEST 2014. By going to to themeruns by Noon today, September 26th, you can register online for only $20 (after that, in-person registration is $25). The event is staged and managed by Theme Runs, Inc., who most notably coordinated the TuTu 10K Relay in June of this year. The organization is donating all equipment and employee labor. Heres the idea: YOU put together YOUR best RED outfit: shirts, shorts, shoes, wigs, costumes and outfits in red are all encouraged. Be outrageous! There is a costume contest. You can run or walk, explained Beth Moyes, President of Theme Runs, Inc. Winner Medals will be awarded in several categories, including Overall Male and Female Winner; Masters (40+) Male and Female; 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Awards in nine age categories; and Walkers Male and Female. Moyes also noted that everyone who crosses the Finish Line will receive a Finisher Medal in the shape of a jigsaw puzzle piece. And heres how the Candidates benefit: each registrant gets a ballot. On it, you can choose a KING candidate and a QUEEN candidate. HALF the money raised will be split evenly between all candidates. The remaining half will be divided between the top vote getter for KING and the top vote getter for QUEEN, added Scott Pridgen, Executive Director AIDS Help. All proceeds from this run, originally started by current FANTASY FEST King Stephen Sunshine Sunday, go directly to AIDS Help. Youll be saluting, helping and chugging forward alongside: Shane Hall, For KING Julie Jules Hanson, For QUEEN Joe Weed Clements, For KING Clyde Joyce, For KING and Mary-Lynne Price, For QUEEN Packet pickup and in Person Registration is Friday night from 5pm-7pm across from the White St. Pier, in the Wildlife Center parking lot.
