Running Repairs: A bit more about me. You must think, why am I reading about this guy, why should I trust him? Why go to this Question and Answer session? My undergraduate degree was BIO-Chem but I was doing graduate level work in Exercise Physiology. I enlisted (Army), and did 5 years of medical research involving road-marching, repetitive lifting, body composition and running type research protocols. I got accepted to the US Army Baylor Program in 1991. First Assignment out of school was Fort Carson Co, I volunteered with the Chief on Family Practice, and worked with Olympic athletes at the training center in Colorado Springs. Worked sports med and ortho. Next duty station, Landstuhl Germany. Got affiliated with Health Promotions there, gained certification. Also began alternative medicine, and started working with chronic pain patients. Next, Chief of Physical Therapy at Ft Drum. We did a massive amount of work on Running shoe selection/Injury Prevention for the Division. So much success, that they send me to the Sergeants Major Academy next, to teach injury prevention, Master Fitness Trainer to the senior enlisted people in the Army. I did and taught running shoe selection, nutrition, stress management (and several other topics) as an adjunct professor there. This is more, but less related to injury prevention. In private practice since, I have deepened my hands on treatment of myofascial issues, and am learning how to teach others how to do this more efficiently. This is where you come in. Managing your own aches and pains. Recognizing what is really at the heart of the problem. Hope that helps give your some comfort, on why to come to the Q & A.
