Russell John Fleming: I would recommend watching Horizon from last night (on iPlayer or YouTube (link below)) if you would like to learn more about the science that is linking microbes in your gut (or their absence) to things like allergies and other chronic illnesses. It really was a very good and objective look at this fascinating and explosive area of science: brought home by carefully analysing the microbes found in and around the family home and on family members affected by allergies. When Dr Ian Lipkin visits Bristol and London next week, at the invite of the ME Association and other members of the CFS/ME MRC Research Collaborative: he will be speaking about pathogen discovery which will include current and proposed research into ME and the gut microbiome.
