March 17 – Supreme Council of Autonomous Republic of Crimea adopted a decree On the Independence of Crimea. The decree declares that Crimea is an independent sovereign state. Crimeas Supreme Council also asked that Russia accepts Crimea as a new constituent of Russian Federation in the capacity of Republic. March 17 – Supreme Council of Ukraine approved the decree proposed by the acting President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov on partial mobilization. Armed Forces of Ukraine are on war alert. Partial mobilization will enlist 20 thousand people in the Armed Forces and 20 thousand people in the National Guards. March 17 – Russian servicemen are forcing Ukrainian border guards out of their apartments in Crimea. Ukrainian garrisons remain in Crimea. March 17 – Russias Ministry for Foreign Affairs listed what they expect from Ukraine: acknowledging Crimeas annexation, federalization of Ukraine, adopting Russian language as an official language in Ukraine. Ukraines Ministry for Foreign Affairs demands that first Russia should withdraw its military units and then advises Ukraine on what to do. Ukraine is developing a Law of Ukraine on Crimea as an occupied territory. March 17 – According to data, 123% of Sevastopol residents voted for Crimea to join Russian Federation. According to data of the Department of Statistics, there are 383 499 permanent residents in Sevastopol, whereas 474 137 residents voted for joining Russia. It becomes evident that children, mentally ill and dead have also voted. March 17 – Ukraine has recalled its Ambassador in Russian Federation Volodymyr Yelchenko. March 17 – The US is implementing sanctions against Russian and Ukrainian politicians in connection with Crimeas referendum. Respective decision was made by the US President Barack Obama. March 17 – Russias President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree On Recognizing the Republic of Crimea, according to which Crimea is recognized as an independent state.
