Russia raps ‘bull-in-a-china-shop’ West Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has censured the ‘bull-in-a- china-shop’ Western partners of Russia over intervention in the Middle East affairs. “Our Western partners sometimes behave like a bull in a china shop - they squeeze in, crush everything and then don’t know what to do next,” the Russian premier told Russia Today in an interview on Sunday. Medvedev commented on the issue of Syria and said the turmoil in the country was the latest example of the mistaken policies adopted by the West. He warned the West that interference in the internal affairs of Syria would exacerbate the situation in the country and add to instability. "“We have always believed that the power to solve Syria’s problems should lie with its people. But the active interference that we now see might potentially lead to the same problems and create yet another unstable country,” Medvedev stated." Certain Western countries seek to dismantle Syria’s political systems and install a pro-Western regime under the pretext of protecting national interest and human rights, the Russian prime minister said. “…What is happening in Syria shows that there is a forceful dismantling of a country’s political system under the guise of the fight for national interests, an intrusion into its internal affairs and the installation a loyal political regime.” Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the West and its regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey - are supporting the militants operating inside Syria. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said on July 25 that more than 100,000 people have been killed in Syria since the outbreak of the foreign-sponsored militancy. Millions of others have also been displaced due to the turmoil in the country.
