Russian Deputy FM Gennady Gatilov announced that the peace conference to reach an end to the Syrian crisis would not be held in June as the Syrian opposition has not decided on its participants in the conference yet. “The conference could not take place in June because world powers had yet to agree on all the issues related to the format of the future meeting," the Russian diplomat added. In turn, the UN and Arab Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi hoped that the peace conference would be in July because “the situation in Syria turned to be tragic.” Diplomatic sources mentioned that the US and Russia have not settled their differences regarding the negotiations to end the Syrian crisis. This left a negative impact on the international attempts to reach peace in Syria. These remarks were given after a tripartite meeting was held on Wednesday in Geneva to set the preparations for a peace conference to end the Syrian crisis. UN, Russia, and US attended were represented in the meeting by their high-level diplomats.
